Patriots Upset Bills on Chism’s One-Handed TD

The New England Patriots defeated the Buffalo Bills 29-26. Drake Maye went 22-for-37 for 269 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. Efton Chism III made a one-handed 23-yard touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter that put the Patriots ahead 27-26; they converted the two-point attempt for 29-26. Craig Woodson intercepted Josh Allen to seal the win. Romeo Doubs had six catches for 58 yards and two touchdowns. Without Christian Gonzalez, Christian Barmore and A.J. Brown, the Patriots held Dalton Kincaid to one catch for seven yards. New England reached 2-2 after a 35-6 loss to Jacksonville the prior week; Buffalo fell to 3-1. Mike Vrabel said Maye was extremely prepared, focused, and had a good week of practice, was decisive with some protection as receivers took off running, that there was a lot to correct but he appreciated how they competed against a good veteran team, and that the win gets us back in the race. Per ESPN Insights, Maye is the first Patriots QB with seven interceptions in the first four games since Tom Brady in 2003; the interception came on a pass that slipped through Doubs hands. No contested claims found.
