Eury Pérez pitched a one-hit shutout as the Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves 3-0. Pérez allowed only Sean Murphy's sixth-inning leadoff single on a first-pitch sinker, struck out eight, walked one and threw 105 pitches for his first complete game in 68 major-league starts and the 11th complete-game shutout in MLB this season. He entered 0-3 with a 9.76 ERA in six career starts against Atlanta and improved to 8-11. Joe Mack hit his 14th homer of the season in the seventh off Grant Holmes. Heriberto Hernández added an RBI single and Griffin Conine a two-run homer off Didier Fuentes in the eighth as Miami snapped a six-game losing streak against Atlanta. A pre-game moment of silence honored José Fernández on the 10th anniversary of his death. CONTESTED: none found in record The Braves fell to 93-67, locked into the NL No. 3 seed after clinching the East last weekend, and have lost three of four since. The Marlins rose to 79-81, third in the NL East and 14 games behind, and could finish .500 with a sweep of the three-game series.
