The Philadelphia Phillies left Luis Arraez off their NL Wild Card Series roster against the Atlanta Braves after he sprained his left ankle on Sept. 24 avoiding a tag at first base in a 5-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers. He has not resumed baseball activities. Don Mattingly said Monday: "We still get improvement every day, but not enough to … he was going to try to hit today and wasn’t able to do it, so we kind of crossed that bridge today." Otto Kemp takes the roster spot. Jesus Luzardo starts Game 1, likely limited to 2-3 innings after a complete-game shutout of the Braves on Sept. 7. Bryson Stott likely moves to second base; Edmundo Sosa is the top candidate at third. The best-of-three begins Tuesday at Truist Park in Atlanta. Contested: RotoBaller lists Arraez at 64 RBI; KMJNow lists 34 RBI. No other factual disputes found. Arraez finished .310 (185-for-596) with six home runs. Missing the final three games cost a chance at a fourth batting title behind Gabriel Moreno (.311). Return for a possible NLDS against the Los Angeles Dodgers remains uncertain if Philadelphia advances.

No center coverage yet — a bubble gap.
At least they left the door open for Arraez if the series goes longer.
Otto Kemp stepping in might work out but Arraez has been the better bat all year.
Arraez missing the wild card game because of that ankle is a real blow to the offense.
