FSU Rout Virginia 38-7, Daniels Sets Five-TD Record

Ashton Daniels set a Florida State single-game record with five rushing touchdowns as the Seminoles defeated Virginia 38-7 on Oct. 3, 2026, at Doak Campbell Stadium in Tallahassee. Daniels ran 17 times for 136 yards and the five scores and completed 12 of 19 passes for 183 yards with one interception. Florida State improved to 3-2 overall and 1-1 in ACC play. He entered with four rushing touchdowns through four games and now has nine this season, tying the FSU single-season record after arriving with 11 career rushing touchdowns. Coach Mike Norvell brought Daniels up first to swing the sledgehammer on the team rock, followed by defensive players Chris Jones, Ma'Khi Jones, Rylan Kennedy and Kevin Wynn. Norvell said Daniels earned some respect on the performance, shows up every day to try to push to be better and encourage his teammates as an example, that the football team and Daniels deserved that night, and that he was proud of how Daniels played and excited for where the team can build and grow from here. Coverage does not dispute the score, statistics or records. Sports Illustrated foregrounded the rock-breaking tradition as personifying the win and earlier detailed the gold-helmet garnet uniform combination. The Richmond Times-Dispatch highlighted Virginia defenders running off the field after the loss.

FSU looked completely in control from start to finish. That kind of rushing attack should carry them deep into the season.
Daniels had a monster game breaking that five touchdown record. Virginia's defense never adjusted to the run all night.
