In the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, LSU moved up one spot to No. 10 after a 63-14 win over McNeese in which the Tigers ran 101 plays for over 700 yards of total offense. UCLA rose to No. 22 and Oregon climbed two places to No. 13 after both had bye weeks ahead of their matchup in Eugene, where Oregon is favored by 12.5 points. Texas remained No. 1 with 45 first-place votes and a 4-0 record; Georgia held No. 2 with 20 first-place votes and a 5-0 record. Notre Dame, Miami and Indiana completed the top five. Nebraska received 117 votes outside the top 25. Missouri beat then-No. 8 Florida 45-17. Kentucky entered the poll at No. 25 after an overtime win over South Carolina. LSU quarterback Sam Leavitt completed 18 of 23 passes for three touchdowns, running back Harlem Berry had a career-high 125 rushing yards, and freshman Deuce Geralds recorded his fifth sack of the year. Dylan McNeill, Will Rosenblatt and Trey Luerssen reported the poll results for team wires. Left-rated AOL stories led with the UCLA and LSU climbs and the LSU offensive numbers. A center-rated Oregonian headline framed Oregon's rise ahead of UCLA. No right-rated coverage appeared in the rated set.
