A Russian drone struck the locomotive of a Kyiv-to-Warsaw passenger train near Yahodyn, about two kilometers from Ukraine’s border with Poland, after passengers were evacuated; no injuries were reported. The train, carrying 206 people, was delayed for hours before continuing to Warsaw, while a second drone strike briefly disrupted operations at the nearby Dorohusk-Yahodyn crossing. The attack occurred shortly after a diplomatic train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt and European security officials passed through the area; Ukraine’s railway operator said that train may have been the intended target after schedule changes. Russia said it targeted railway infrastructure used for military cargo, while Ukrainian and Polish officials condemned the incident. The strike was part of a broader Russian overnight assault across Ukraine that Ukrainian authorities said involved 453 drones and missile drones, killed at least six civilians, injured more than 40 and damaged energy, rail and other infrastructure.
