During Hurricane Isaias, zookeepers at ZooWorld in Panama City Beach moved 30 flamingos into a restroom to protect them from dangerous winds and debris. The birds huddled together inside the sturdy, enclosed space, and video of them honking and moving between the sinks and stalls spread widely online. ZooWorld said animal lockdown arrangements vary by species; other animals were sheltered in different ways, and all of the zoo’s animals survived. Staff later began cleaning up damage, including downed limbs.
