Isaias Prompts Football Schedule and Game-Day Changes
Tropical Storm Isaias’ forecast of heavy rain, strong winds and possible tornadoes prompted widespread football schedule and game-day changes across Alabama, Georgia and Mississippi. Numerous high school games were moved from Friday to Thursday, shifting WDAM’s Pine Belt Gametime broadcast to Thursday night. Florida A&M’s game at Alabama State in Montgomery was moved to Friday at 11 a.m. local time, and Alabama State rescheduled other Homecoming events. The Georgia-Alabama game remained scheduled, but Alabama curtailed tailgating and canceled several pregame activities, subject to weather and safety inspections. Georgia Tech and Duke were also monitoring conditions around Atlanta and expected to play as scheduled at the time of reporting.
