Makhaula delays retirement, signs Pirates extension

Orlando Pirates midfielder Makhehlene Makhaula has postponed retirement after chairman Irvin Khoza urged the 36-year-old to play another season, telling him he still had the fitness to contribute. Makhaula had said he might retire after helping Pirates win the Betway Premiership, but has since agreed to remain with the club and is focused on pursuing more silverware. Ahead of the MTN8 final against Mamelodi Sundowns, he said he was encouraged by his teammates’ preparation and believes the squad’s depth and experience can help it manage a demanding schedule.
