USMNT Sweeps Window, Beats Canada 1-0

The United States defeated Canada 1-0 in St. Paul, completing a four-win international window under coach Mauricio Pochettino. The young U.S. side also beat Peru 4-1, Chile 4-2 and Mexico 3-0, with Justin Ellis scoring the lone goal against Canada and goalkeeper Brian Schwake earning a clean sheet in his first international start. The results strengthened the Americans’ claim to regional supremacy, though the Concacaf Nations League semifinals in March will offer a more consequential test.
