Virginia districts flag upcoming roadwork, closures
Virginia transportation officials warn of construction, maintenance and lane restrictions across the Staunton, Fredericksburg, Bristol, Culpeper and Lynchburg districts during the week of Oct. 12. Work includes overnight lane closures and bridge inspections on I-95 in the Fredericksburg area, and ongoing I-81 bridge and interchange projects in the Bristol District that may bring traffic shifts, nighttime closures and a 14-foot width restriction near Reed Creek. Staunton-area work includes shoulder closures for ditch cleaning and sign work, along with paving and other maintenance; Culpeper crews also plan routine bridge, guardrail, drainage, paving and roadside work. In the Lynchburg District, Route 626 at Holiday Lake Road and Route 642 over Roanoke Creek remain closed with detours, while Route 460 westbound is reduced to one lane and Route 29 work near Gladys Road is nearing completion. Schedules may change with weather and other conditions, and drivers are advised to use caution in work zones and check VDOT 511 for current information.
