Frontline Breach Exposes Staff Data in Five Districts
Frontline Education disclosed that attackers exploited a vulnerability in unidentified third-party software to access part of its systems, exposing information that may include employees’ Social Security numbers, email addresses and home addresses. The company says it identified the vulnerability on Aug. 14, 2026, investigated with cybersecurity specialists, fixed the issue and strengthened its systems, but the total number of affected districts and people remains unclear. In Upstate South Carolina, multiple districts—including Anderson districts, Greenwood School District 50 and Greenville County Schools—have notified families or staff; Greenville County Schools says its own systems were not breached. The information potentially involved varies by district and could include student records, such as Medicaid identifiers, as well as employee data. A cybersecurity expert urged affected families to consider freezing students’ credit and to be wary of unsolicited calls or requests for personal information, verifying updates through district websites.
