CAS Set to Hear Senegal AFCON Title Appeal
Senegal is challenging at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) the decision to strip it of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations title and award Morocco a 3-0 victory. Senegal had won the January final 1-0 after extra time, but the Confederation of African Football overturned the result after Senegal’s players briefly left the pitch to protest a late penalty. The closed-door hearing in Lausanne has concluded, but CAS has not issued a ruling or set a date for its decision. The appeal turns in part on the referee’s authority and whether CAF was entitled to declare Senegal had forfeited the match.
