CAF weighs return to biennial AFCON
CAF President Patrice Motsepe says the governing body is reviewing its plan to move the Africa Cup of Nations from its traditional two-year cycle to a four-year schedule, and is considering holding the tournament every two years again. The proposed change, linked to plans for an annual African Nations League, drew criticism over the tournament’s visibility, commercial value and place in the international calendar. Motsepe announced no final decision; under the existing plan, editions are scheduled for 2027 and 2028, followed by a four-year interval.
