153 Physicists Named American Physical Society Fellows
The American Physical Society has named a 2026 class of 153 Fellows, recognizing physicists for exceptional research and service. Among them are ETH Zurich’s Oliver Wallny, honored for electroweak single-top discoveries and silicon tracking detectors; Durham’s Simon Cornish, for advances in ultracold quantum matter; and Princeton chemist Leslie Schoop, for using chemical-bonding principles to develop novel quantum materials. University of Illinois Chicago’s Robert Klie was recognized for atomic-resolution electron microscopy and spectroscopy, while Brookhaven National Laboratory’s Lijuan Ruan was cited for detector development and research on quark-gluon plasma. Brookhaven physicist Xin Qian was also named a Fellow.
