Tate Brothers Denied Bail in Extradition Case

A Miami federal magistrate judge denied Andrew and Tristan Tate’s request for release, ruling that they had not shown they were neither flight risks nor dangers to the community while contesting extradition to the United Kingdom. Judge Lauren Louis cited their wealth claims, international connections and frequent travel, describing them as having an “exceptional capacity to flee,” while acknowledging that their online portrayals of extreme wealth may have been exaggerated. The dual U.S.-British citizens were arrested in Miami on July 18 after British authorities sought their extradition on allegations including rape, assault and facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation; both deny wrongdoing. Prosecutors also cited allegations that the brothers strangled victims and ongoing Romanian proceedings involving alleged human trafficking, sexual exploitation and money laundering. The brothers will remain in a Miami federal detention center during the extradition process, while their lawyers consider further legal challenges.
