Missing teen found safe after deputies uncover padlocked RV room, arrest parents

PIMA COUNTY, Ariz. (KPNX/CNN NEWSOURCE/WKRC) — A 15-year-old Arizona boy who authorities said was confined in a padlocked room inside an RV has been found safe, the Pima County Sheriff’s Department said. Ryker Lee was located Friday afternoon after a community member provided a tip, authorities said. He had been reported missing Tuesday after leaving his family’s property, southwest of Tucson. As deputies investigated Lee’s disappearance, they said they found evidence of child abuse involving Lee and his two younger siblings. Authorities said Lee was allegedly kept in a small, padlocked room in an RV without running water, a restroom or air conditioning. Court records say plastic bottles containing possible urine and spiders were found in the area where the teen slept. Lee has Type 1 diabetes and requires medication. The two younger children, ages 10 and 8, were found in unsanitary conditions inside the main home, authorities said. They were taken into the custody of the Arizona Department of Child Safety. Lee’s mother, Danielle Renae Lee-Sharp, 39, and stepfather, Michael Aaron Menzie, 43, were each arrested on three child abuse charges. Both have since been released on bond. _______________ Stay up to date with our social media: WKRC on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/WKRCTV/ WKRC on Twitter: https://twitter.com/Local12 WKRC on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/local12wkrc/?hl=en WKRC on TikTok: https://www.tiktok.com/@local12wkrc?lang=en Subscribe to WKRC on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC673WfesrYoCgG9VsekGlEQ/?sub_confirmation=1 For more information, visit https://www.local12.com/ Download the WKRC News app: https://local12.com/station/news-app Download the WKRC Weather app: https://local12.com/weather/weather-app Have a news tip?
