Syngenta Plans $5 Billion Hong Kong IPO
Chinese-owned agricultural chemicals and seeds producer Syngenta has confidentially filed for a Hong Kong initial public offering that could raise about $5 billion, with some reports suggesting the deal could reach $10 billion. The company is considering a listing as soon as late 2026 or in early 2027, subject to regulatory approval and market conditions, which could make it one of Hong Kong’s largest IPOs in recent years. The plan revives Syngenta’s effort to go public after it withdrew a Shanghai listing application in 2024 amid volatile markets. Its Hong Kong plans were also delayed by Middle East-related disruptions to agricultural supplies and prices, while a leadership change and the sensitivity of its seed business could add to the approval process. A listing would give public investors a transparent valuation of the company, which has been controlled by China’s state-owned Sinochem since ChemChina acquired it in 2017.
