Guardiola reaffirms support for Manchester City after financial breach findings

An independent Premier League commission on Tuesday found Manchester City guilty of financial-rule breaches spanning the 2009-10 to 2017-18 seasons. The findings involved more than £900 million ($1.19 billion) in understated costs or inflated revenue, and the club was found guilty of most charges of failing to cooperate with the investigation. On Wednesday Pep Guardiola posted on X that he is behind the club, its owner, chairman, players, staff and supporters, writing they will get through this together and adding, "I love you all." The post included photos of him with chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, lifting the Champions League trophy, and celebrating the 2023 Premier League title. Manchester City denies wrongdoing and intends to appeal. The club has until October 2 to appeal the commission's findings. Sanctions are to be addressed in a separate hearing, the Premier League said. Guardiola managed City from 2016 to 2026, winning six Premier League titles, the 2023 Champions League and three FA Cups. Reports say there is no suggestion he knew of wrongdoing.
