Logano Wins Bristol After Late-Race Incident

Joey Logano won the Bass Pro Shops Night Race at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 20, 2026, by 1.248 seconds over Kyle Larson for his 40th career Cup win and third of the season. Contact between Carson Hocevar and Ty Gibbs on lap 494 let Logano pass underneath both and Larson with seven laps left. Logano led 93 of 500 laps. The top five were Logano, Larson, Hocevar, Christopher Bell and Ty Gibbs. Ryan Blaney led 202 laps but finished 33rd. Rain cancelled qualifying; Larson started on pole and Logano second. Logano won Stage 1 and Blaney Stage 2, with 13 lead changes and 10 cautions. On lap 458 Hocevar made contact that sent Blaney into the Turn 1 wall. Hocevar told NBC Sports he was not trying to wreck him: he got a run, went left and spun him. After the race Blaney approached Hocevar on pit road during Logano's burnout. Hocevar threw punches; Blaney was knocked down, returned a punch, and crews separated them. Hocevar said it was the first time he ever hit anybody and he started swinging after being grabbed. Logano said he has a team that knows how to win championships and called the late opening a gift. Larson said a stay-out pit call and short runs helped him to second.
