Mississippi State overcame a 16-0 deficit to defeat South Carolina 41-34 in its Southeastern Conference opener, improving to 3-0 as quarterback Kamario Taylor threw for 251 yards and four touchdowns and running back Fluff Bothwell rushed for 115 yards. South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers passed for 282 yards and two touchdowns, but Mississippi State scored 27 consecutive points in the second half before the Gamecocks mounted a late rally. UConn rebounded from its loss to Maryland with a 48-20 victory over Southern Miss, rushing for 212 yards, getting two touchdown runs from Kalieb Osborne and forcing two turnovers, including a pick-six. In Raleigh, City Council members dropped consideration of a proposed teen curfew after reviewing data and consulting residents and police. Local authorities are investigating a series of vehicle break-ins and whether officers used unlawful force when two patrons were handcuffed and taken to the ground during an alcohol-enforcement operation at a Raleigh bar; neither patron was charged.
