Sabres Sign Ostlund to Eight-Year Extension

The Buffalo Sabres signed 22-year-old forward Noah Ostlund to an eight-year, $52.8 million contract extension on September 14, 2026. The deal carries a $6.6 million average annual value, takes effect next summer for the 2027-28 season, and extends through 2035. Selected 16th overall in the 2022 NHL Draft, Ostlund produced 11 goals and 27 points in 60 games as a rookie while giving middle-six contributions in all three zones. After a late regular-season upper-body injury he returned for three playoff games with two points before a lower-body injury sidelined him again; the Sabres had ended a 14-year playoff drought that season. At 5-foot-11 and 180 pounds he has missed time to injury in each of the past four seasons, including an upper-body injury and concussion in Sweden, hand surgery that cost two months with the Rochester Americans, and the recent setbacks. General manager Jarmo Kekalainen’s front office completed the agreement before a new CBA limits such extensions to seven years.
