AMD-Anthropic deal to deploy 2 GW AI compute

AMD and Anthropic unveiled a deal worth up to $5 billion in equity from AMD in exchange for tens of billions of dollars of AMD’s AI server chips, enabling as much as 2 gigawatts of compute capacity with the first gigawatt online in the first half of 2027. The partnership aims to diversify Anthropic’s compute away from Nvidia and Google TPUs, intensifying AI infrastructure competition as AMD positions itself as a significant supplier alongside other cloud providers and partners.
