Sabres Host Stars After Two Straight Wins

Buffalo hosts Dallas on Thursday at KeyBank Center, looking to extend its two-game winning streak and open the season with three straight home victories. The Sabres have rallied from two-goal deficits in consecutive games, most recently beating Minnesota 3-2 in overtime on Owen Power’s goal; Power has five points through three games, while Tage Thompson has scored in each of Buffalo’s past two contests. Dallas is 1-2 after opening the season with two losses before shutting out San Jose 5-0, and goalie Jake Oettinger has been strong in his first two starts. The matchup pits Buffalo’s early-season momentum against a Stars team that finished second in the Central Division last season; Buffalo also has injury concerns, including forward Josh Doan listed as day to day.
