The New York Liberty announced that Satou Sabally will miss the remainder of the WNBA season after suffering a head injury and concussion, marking her second concussion in under a year. She had played 13 games this season and had been away from the team since mid-August while recovering. Sabally had previously endured a concussion in the 2025 WNBA Finals with Phoenix and later posted that she would miss the 2026 FIBA World Cup in Germany to focus on full recovery. Liberty coach Chris DeMarco had expressed optimism about her return earlier in the season, but the injury now leaves the team to finish the regular season and potential playoffs without one of their top players. The absence also affects Sabally’s international aspirations for Germany, as well as the team’s projected lineup and rotation as they navigate injuries this season. Sabally signed a two-year contract with the Liberty in the offseason, and her continued absence prompted roster adjustments as the team adapts.
