Oettinger’s 17th shutout powers Stars’ first win
Jake Oettinger recorded his 17th career shutout as the Dallas Stars beat the San Jose Sharks 5-0 on Oct. 5, 2026, for their first win of the season. Miro Heiskanen scored the eventual game-winner on a backhand with 1:09 left in the first period. Jamie Benn had a goal and an assist, and Joel Kiviranta, Jason Robertson and Mikko Rantanen also scored. Yaroslav Askarov made 21 saves for San Jose. Macklin Celebrini was scratched shortly before puck drop with a lower-body injury after taking part in warmups and leaving the ice early. Ty Dellandrea made his season debut in Celebrini's place. Celebrini assisted on San Jose's overtime winner Saturday and signed a five-year, $94 million extension over the summer. Oettinger has allowed two goals on 35 shots in two starts.
