No. 11 BYU defeated Colorado State 41-23 in Fort Collins and improved to 3-0 for a fourth straight season. LJ Martin ran for 176 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries, 173 in the first half, with a long score on the second play. Bear Bachmeier went 12-of-16 for 227 yards and two touchdowns plus his first interception of the season. Legend Glasker caught five passes for 131 yards, including a 70-yarder, and added a rushing touchdown. BYU totaled 559 yards and 332 on the ground, leading 38-7 before pulling starters. Kalani Sitake called Martin one of the best running backs in the country and said the Cougars are "exactly where we want to be," while seeking better play from backups. Jim Mora said his team was disappointed but not discouraged and showed "no cracks." Colorado State apologized for student-section chants mocking faith, saying they have no place at CSU. Hauss Hejny left with a hamstring injury; K'Saan Farrar exited after an eye injury and was later cleared. Reports differ on Martin's opening touchdown as 56 or 54 yards. BYU faces a bye, then TCU on Oct. 3.
