The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested Muhammadali KP, the PFI Palakkad district president and a key absconder in the Sreenivasan murder case, on arrival at Delhi’s IGI Airport from Riyadh after four years in hiding. The agency had offered a Rs 3 lakh reward and issued an Interpol Red Notice; with this arrest, the total number of accused arrested in the case stands at 67. Muhammadali is charged under IPC provisions and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act for his alleged role in the murder conspiracy and for sheltering the assailants involved in the 2022 killing of Sreenivasan. The NIA described Sreenivasan’s killing as part of a broader conspiracy by the banned PFI to unleash terror and establish Islamic rule in India by 2047, noting that PFI operated through various wings and units and used its offices and facilities to train and coordinate operatives. Investigations also indicate attempts to create a communal divide through violent extremism and jihad, with units like the PE Wing and Reporters Wing cited as part of the organization’s structure for recruitment, information gathering, and execution of attacks. The arrests continue as part of the ongoing probe into PFI activities and the Kerala murder case, reflecting sustained, multi-agency scrutiny into the group’s activities.
