Korean Firms Expand AI Infrastructure Deals
Samsung Electro-Mechanics has reported a long-term AI server memory component contract (MLCC) as part of a broader wave of multi-year agreements for AI infrastructure. Separately, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix are poised to sign multi-billion-dollar, long-term memory-supply deals with major U.S. tech firms focused on high-bandwidth memory for AI data centers. The announcements come during President Lee Jae Myung's Silicon Valley visit, with meetings involving Nvidia, OpenAI, Anthropic, Broadcom and others. The partners collectively control about 80% of the global HBM market, aiming to secure memory capacity amid rising AI workloads. Intel and AMD are pursuing longer-term CPU purchase commitments with Chinese server customers, signaling a broader shift in demand beyond GPUs and memory. The moves reflect a trend toward long-duration supply agreements in AI infrastructure.
