TikTok’s Q1 2026 Community Guidelines Enforcement Report shows East Africa under a sweeping content moderation push, with 884,591 videos removed from Kenya for guideline violations—99.7% proactively detected and 96.3% taken down within 24 hours. The platform also banned 48,739 Kenyan accounts suspected of belonging to users under 13 to enforce age restrictions. Live content was heavily scrutinized as well, with 103,847 LIVE rooms interrupted in Kenya for guideline breaches. Globally, TikTok removed more than 184 million videos in the quarter, roughly 0.5% of all uploads, with AI handling over 178 million of those deletions and about 8.8 million videos reinstated after review. The company highlighted continued reliance on automated moderation, announced AI-generated content controls including labeling, and noted its membership on the C2PA Steering Committee to boost AI transparency. Taken together, the figures underscore a broad, AI-driven effort to govern content and protect younger users amid rising regulatory scrutiny.
