Hitachi Energy will invest $528 million to build a new transformer manufacturing facility on a 45-acre site at Copiah County Industrial Park in Gallman, Mississippi. State figures put the new jobs at 654. The site is about 6.5 miles from the Crystal Springs plant that employs 475 people. Construction is expected later this year, with production set to start in 2029. Once complete, production will shift from Crystal Springs, which will then serve warehousing and training. The project anchors a roughly $1.5 billion U.S. manufacturing push that also covers expansions in Virginia, Tennessee, and Pennsylvania.
