Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and Safran Aircraft Engines have signed a long-term agreement to produce turbine ring forgings made of superalloys for the CFM LEAP engine programme, marking a significant expansion of their aerospace partnership. HAL will manufacture near-net shape ring forgings at its Bengaluru Ring Rolling facility, supporting the high-temperature rotating sections of the LEAP engine. The deal was formalised during the Farnborough International Airshow, with HAL officials Ravi K and Jayakrishnan S, and Safran’s Dominique Dupuy in attendance, along with Praveen B of HAL. Superalloy ring forgings are critical for engine performance and reliability in elevated-temperature applications. The partnership strengthens HAL’s civil aerospace footprint and global supply chain by aligning with Safran and LEAP, signaling HAL’s capability to meet international OEM demand for complex aero-engine components. Executives highlighted a multi-decade relationship and the growing confidence of global aerospace OEMs in HAL’s manufacturing excellence and potential to support future aero-engine programmes in India.
