Gold, Silver Rise as Tensions Persist; Pakistan Jump
Gold and silver prices rose as Middle East tensions persisted, with bullion trading above $4,000 and multi-week highs. In Pakistan, local gold jumped by roughly Rs4,600 per tola while spot gold reached about $4,130 per ounce and U.S. futures strengthened, signaling broad risk-off momentum. The dollar remained firm near the top of recent ranges, aided by rising Treasury yields and geopolitical risk, complicating further gains in precious metals. Investors anticipated key central-bank signals, including Fed policy decisions, which could shape inflation expectations amid higher energy costs. Oil markets stayed sensitive to Hormuz-related tensions, with crude prices and LNG flows affected by maritime risk and potential supply disruptions. Analysts warned that gold's gains could be tempered if energy-driven inflation leads to higher-for-longer rates, while silver could outperform if industrial demand strengthens.
