Georgia Tech DB Mbakwe Released After Stretcher Exit
Georgia Tech defensive back Jaylen Mbakwe was taken to a hospital after suffering a frightening head injury during the third quarter of the Yellow Jackets’ 45-24 loss to Tennessee on Saturday. Mbakwe collided with teammate Jordan Walker while attempting to make a tackle, remained on the field for several minutes, and was eventually removed on a stretcher; Walker also left the game with a lower-body injury. Mbakwe was conscious and able to move his hands and signal to teammates as he was taken away. Georgia Tech said Sunday that Mbakwe was released from Grady Memorial Hospital after overnight precautionary observation, and Mbakwe said he was feeling well while expressing confidence in the team’s season.
