Detroit Lions Add Lineman, Elevate Safety

The Detroit Lions elevated veteran safety Jalen Mills from the practice squad for a third consecutive week as injuries continue to thin their secondary. Mills has used all three of his permitted practice-squad elevations, so Detroit would need to add him to its 53-man roster to play him again; coach Dan Campbell indicated Mills and Keith Abney could take on larger roles against Arizona. The Lions also signed defensive tackle Jeffrey M’Ba to their practice squad, adding depth after Tyleik Williams appeared on the injury report with a foot issue. M’Ba, a 6-foot-6 undrafted rookie who most recently spent time on Washington’s practice squad, gives Detroit another option on the defensive line as it seeks to address broader defensive struggles.
