Someone Like You is a 2024 American romance drama film written by Karen Kingsbury and Tyler Russell, and directed by Russell. It stars Sarah Fisher, Jake Allyn, Robyn Lively, Bart Johnson, Scott Reeves, and Lynn Collins. It is based on Kingsbury's novel of the same title.

Plot
Successful architect Dawson Gage has been best friends with London Quinn since their senior high school field trip to the zoo. They have had a very close relationship over the last decade, which has remained platonic on her insistence. London's family essentially made him a member as both of his parents died a year after graduation.
London tells Dawson she is a match to donate a kidney to her mother, before she goes to pick her up from dialysis at the hospital. That weekend, the two meet up to hang out. Louise hints she might be available as she has broken up with her latest boyfriend. Flirting with Dawson while walking backward across the street, she gets hit by a car.
London is rushed to the hospital, but soon succumbs to her injuries. Some days after the funeral, Dawson visits her parents, who reveal that London was an IVF baby and there is a twin. Soon after, he is in the Quinns' café, telling his friend he plans to seek out London's biological sibling.
Meanwhile, the said sibling Andi Allen is having a birthday as her parents lament for having kept her origins a secret. This suddenly becomes more urgent, as her boyfriend Matt implies to her father he may soon ask for her hand.
Back in Alabama, Dawson finds the name of Louise's in vitro doctor, and discovers the embryo ended up with a doctor team in Nashville. Internet research leads him to Jim and Jenny Allen, who run a private practice in Nashville. He also finds a photo of their daughter Andi as a recent new zoo employee, and she looks like London.
Dawson goes to the Nashville Zoo and soon locates Andi working there. Not knowing what to say or how to approach her, he hangs back without saying anything, sketching and working on his notebook all day. Her boyfriend arrives and she mentions to Matt that he has been sitting there, occasionally looking at her all morning, but has no idea who he is.
Later on Dawson gets the courage to approach Andi. Telling her he has information about her biological sister, he hands her his card and leaves, as she insists he has the wrong person. At home, Andi confronts her parents, finding out that she was an in vitro fertilised egg that was a spare her biological parents could not use. This egg was implanted in, and carried to term by, Jenny.
When she finds out about the circumstances of her birth, Andi gets really mad at Jim and Jenny, the parents who raised her, and refuses to talk to them. After talking with Matt, she heads down south to Birmingham to get to know her biological parents. Dawson meets Andi at the cafe in the morning, where London's best friend is taken aback by how similar she looks to London. London's parents invite them to a meal at home.
Flipping through photo albums of London, there are several which look like her, Andi. She comes across a photo of Dawson, where he was eight. She wishes she could have known London. Dawson takes Andi through different parts of town, telling her about their importance to London. At their old high school building, he talks about pranks and productions she participated in, mentioning her short-lived aspirations for a dancing career. Next Dawson takes Andi to Smith Lake, where they spent so much time.
As they get ready to go jet-skiing, Andi insists on riding behind Dawson, since she has no experience with them. She asks if he was in love with London; he admits it but also reveals that they were not a couple. That is when Andi tells him she has finally found London's flaw.
Riding around the lake and chilling on the shore afterwards, Dawson and Andy talk about ways that London was similar and different to her. London's thing was dancing but Andy's is singing. She admires his lakeside house which he had built. Later, at the Quinns', Andi talks with Louise, marveling at how amazing Dawson is, she cannot believe that he and London never got together. Louise admits she always hoped they would become a couple someday.
Louise suggests Andy maintain contact with her parents. She is sure they are worried about her and stresses the importance of maintaining her family contact. Andi explains she feels betrayed they never told her about her origins.
The next day at the coffee shop, where Andi is working, Matt shows up. Earlier she told him she was being tested to possibly give Louise her kidney. Matt wanted to see if they still have a relationship and to let her know he got the job at a Nashville law firm. They part amicably.
The day before the transplant surgery, Dawson shows Andy an open-air amphitheater he built as one of his first projects. He tells her that although he initially associated her with London, he now sees her as she truly is. He declares that he is, in fact, in love with her, affirming it with a kiss.
Once Andi recovers, Dawson encourages her to return home to Nashville, her family, and her life. She says whatever happens she will never forget him. The Allens arrives to pick up Andi, and the two mothers say their goodbyes, thanking each other before leaving.
Some time later, Dawson shows up at the zoo. Upon finding Andi, he tells her that his architectural firm is opening a branch in Nashville. Dawson asks her to show him around the city and also hopes to meet her family and friends. They both declare their love for each other and share a kiss.
Production
In September 2022, it was announced that Fisher, Allyn, Collins, Lively, Johnson and Reeves were cast in the film.
The film was shot in Franklin, Tennessee, Nashville, Tennessee and Alabama.
Release
The film was released in 1,802 theaters by Fathom Events in the United States on April 2, 2024. It grossed $2.9 million its opening weekend and went on to gross a total of $5.9 million.
Reception
On the review aggregator website Rotten Tomatoes, 46% of 13 critics' reviews are positive, with an average rating of 5.1/10.
Sandie Angulo Chen of Common Sense Media awarded the film two stars out of five. Allison Gilmor of the Winnipeg Free Press awarded the film two and a half stars out of five. Andrew Parker of TheGATE.ca gave the film a negative review, calling it "a silly, unknowingly creepy, and wholly earnest Christian romance made for people who find Pumpkin Spice Lattes too spicy and Hallmark movies too secular.
